Can you believe that I have never made gloop for Pebble? Gloop is one of those early childhood staples – a gorgeously gooey sensory play experience that is easy to make and easy to clean up. What better way to introduce Pebble to this gunky gunge than with a little bit of Christmas thrown in?
To make the gloop: mix 2 parts cornflour to 1 part cold water and your choice of food colouring. I used 2 cups of corn flour and 1 cup of water with red colouring, trying for a Christmas look. It wasn’t as dark as I would have liked, I might add a bit more next time.
I asked Pebble to close her eyes while I tipped the gloop into her water table along with some plastic and foam Christmas decorations. Note: Don’t use any Christmas decorations that might shatter or have sharp bits that fall off!
Then I said, “Open your eyes!” and the fun began.
Pebble is quite a reluctant mess maker. She often wants to wash her hands as soon as they get dirty, and today was no different. I had a bucket and towel ready, and as soon as she needed to, she was able to wash. The good thing is that the more that we play with mess, the more Pebble relaxes with it.
Have you had some messy play today?

Gloop is the best, isn’t it? I haven’t made gloop for R since he was about 2 yrs old. I totally forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder. I think I know what we’ll be doing tomorrow! Red food colouring never seems to make things red does it? I always get pink or salmon.

I have to admit that I’ve never made gloop! So bad isn’t it. You’ve inspired me to make if for the girls on Friday. They will love it!
We’ve NEVER glooped!
Now my boys are older, I never think of these messy type activities. Though I’m sure they’d love it.

I love gloop, but my boys won’t touch it. May have to make some for my students so I can get my fix!

We love goop! I have bags of cornflour in the pantry just for goop. isn’t it wonderful? It’s nice to add a little bit of essential oil too, like lavender.

I have been wanting to make gloop with my kids for a while but just have not gotten around to it. But I like how you threw a few Christmas-y items in. I might just have to try the same!
