Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day! I hope that you’re spending it with your mum, your daughter, your son, your gran, your great gran… or that special someone who is the ‘mum’ in your life. Special cyber hugs for all those who have lost their special someone and can’t spend time with them today. For all those who are still waiting, hoping, trying to become mums, I hope that your dream comes true in time for next Mother’s Day. I really, really do.

Here I am, on my third Mother’s Day as a mum and daughter-in-law, my thirty-third as a daughter and grand-daughter.

It seems like mere moments have gone by since I become a mum, but OH how my life has changed. For the better. Honest.

Here’s three years broken down into three photos. For me these photos capture my journey through motherhood so far.

The smug pregnant woman (god, how smug I was):

32 Weeks 3

The holy-freaking-hell-this-shiz-just-got-real woman – day one of bringing baby home. Behind that smile lies fear. And exhaustion. And excitement. But mostly fear.

and now.

Now is good. Now is comfortable, enjoying the mum thing, beginning to think about starting the journey all over again….

What are you doing this Mother’s Day?

  1. Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you have a fabulous day with your gorgeous daughter (and good luck with your next journey :) )

We’ll be taking our boys to my 92 year old grandmother’s house for them to runaround with all their cousins. There’s 8 of them all under 8 = happy mayhem.

  2. I can totally relate Kylie. That smugness? Oh yeah. I knew it all too well. And the fear? Still fearful sometimes but having more and more joyful experiences by the minute. Hope you have a lovely, lovely Mother’s Day.

  3. Happy Mothers’ Day babe!
I’m just being woken by my hubby telling my daughter to say ‘Happy Mothers’ Day’ and her saying ‘nooooo!!!’ but hey, the cuddles and kisses and I love you was nice. So now that I’ve explained to her that it’s a special day for mummy and nanna and auntie Michelle, it’s coming out :)
    Have a great day x

    1. Hi Sonia, I am SO sorry, I just found two of your comments in my SPAM. I am clearly a newbie to this wordpress business, I had 46 spam comments sitting there and didn’t even notice. Luckily only four of them were legit comments, I’ll have to keep a closer eye on that. Thanks again for being so persistent with commenting, I hope you continue to get through.

  4. Happy Mothers Day ….. There are no power or treasure on earth like mother,
may god shower his mercy upon them.
Mothers hold their children’s hands for a while,
    but their hearts forever.
