Somehow I never got around to sharing Pebble’s big girl bedroom. I wanted to wait until she was properly settled, so that we could say that it truly has been a success, and now it’s been almost two months since she moved in. I can truly say that Pebble is very settled in her new big girl room. She loves it! The transition luckily, was very easy. We talked about it a lot with her before hand, over a few months, and when the room was finally ready she was ready. We tried to keep a lot of the room the same – the same decorations, the same rug, the same toys to play with. Plus a few added extras – extra shelving and storage for toys, mostly. Now her room, while slightly smaller, is much more like a play room than a nursery.
The ‘before’ photo – Pebble’s new room used to be our spare room -
otherwise known as ‘open the door, throw it in and shut the door’ room.
The move to the big girl bed from a cot bed was really easy. She was already used to having the bed rail on her cot bed, so that was nothing new. Her legs were getting so long that she was nearly too small for the cot bed, it was the perfect time to upgrade. I think it’s lovely that we have her big cousin’s old bed for her to sleep in, something loved and treasured and passed on to us. I also love that if one of us really needs to we can snuggle up with her in her big bed.
Taking measurements for her new furnitures. Love them both writing down the measurements together :)
Pebble really enjoyed helping put together her new furniture, I think that helped with embracing the change too. Daddy and Pebble are now experts at assembling Ikea flat pack furniture! We bought two trofast frames and several different sizes and colours of tubs and they are just perfect. So easy for storing different bits and pieces and easy for children to pack away their own things… ahem…. not that she does pack away her own things…. but she could if she wanted to. We’ll work on that.
Assembling furniture with Daddy
Pebble sleeps through most nights, perhaps waking once or twice to call out and have her blanket put back on her. I tuck her in and go to the loo, and by the time I’m back she’s snoring again. Occasionally I’ll have to sit and pat her for a bit longer, but not often. We have an adult chair next to the bed just for this purpose. I need a chair and my phone to keep my sanity on trickier nights! I don’t mind an excuse to catch up on some blog reading while patting her back to sleep :) I’ll wait until we’ve settled in with bubs before I comment on how things are going now that there is a baby waking up at all hours of the night (well, I assume there is… I will admit that I have scheduled this post to appear like magic while I’m getting to used to having two children. It’s a little strange to be writing from the past! Hello me! How are you going with the new baby? Be kind to yourself xx).
The finished room – please excuse the love hearts over the bunting -
the bunting spells her real name, I made it for her 2nd birthday.
You can use this free printable to make one too!
How is sleep going at your place? Are your kids getting any? Are you getting any?

Love the rug! My 23 month old still wakes maybe 3-4 times a week, usually just the once and it is a rare occasion to not wake up in the morning and find my 4 year old asleep on the floor in our room!
