Real Life Wednesday: Cut Out Sandwiches

I knew it was a bad idea, but I did it anyway.

How could I resist the cute little heart cookie cutter? Or the star? And the little man? Too sweet!

I had made Pebble’s lunch especially cute to keep her happy and quiet – after all I was dragging her to a meeting with me, I should try and make the experience a bit pleasant, right?

That’s right. I made cut out sandwiches – little cute shaped sandwich bites, created with my cookie cutters. She LOVED them. Love, love, loved them! She even ate brown bread for the first time in over a year!

But then she wanted them the next time she had a sandwich. And the next time. And then next time.

I knew it would happen, but I just couldn’t resist.

Tell me you’ve done something like this?! Please?

  1. Every time bear wants a sandwich, it’s cut into a shape of some kind. I have all the ‘lunch punch’ sets & they’re the best things I’ve purchased, he eats sandwiches of all kinds now not just fritz. We also do shape cheese & I’ve started doing it to vegies in the vain hope he’ll start eating something other than peas! If it gets them to eat, why not? I love making scenes with them. Shhh, don’t tell anyone lol xx

    1. I have thought about buying those lunch punch sets – they are the ones that leave very little waste, I think? Thanks for the tip!

  2. Nothing wrong with this at all! I would totally do this if I had the right utensils on hand…. though I suspect I might not be patient enough what with three little boys demanding food at the same time. Very cute!

  3. Wouldn’t matter what shape I cut them into… my girls are never gonna eat a sandwich! LOL

I always love the look of the shaped sangers but hate the idea of all the waste so I’d definitely be going for the lunch punch things everyone is talking about, then shape those sangers till your heart’s content! Surely it doesn’t take any longer than cutting them?
