Pregnancy Update – 27 Weeks

I am now in the third trimester! I’m 27 weeks pregnant, and it’s all going pretty swimmingly. I have had a little bit of trouble with sudden nausea and fatigue – as in ‘get-thee-to-a-couch-now’, then not moving for an hour or three. It has hit me about five times now, always very suddenly, then passes just as suddenly and I’m right as rain. So far as I can tell there is nothing much wrong with me. I just have a condition known as ‘pregnancy’. With a side serve of ‘over-active toddler’. Whaddaya know?!

This pregnancy I have barely touched a pregnancy book. I’m not really interested in reading about what size my baby is in comparison to a cauliflower. What I am interested in is other women’s experiences. Are they feeling sick and tired too? Is it normal to have a belly THIS BIG at this stage of pregnancy? Is anyone else craving pineapple juice?

As it turns out there is a new place for mums-to-be to hang out and talk about this stuff. Instead of driving my non-preggo friends crazy with constant musings about my uterus, I can pop over to Karimums and see what’s going on. It’s a social website with a pretty, visual layout and easy to find sections. I can easily find other mums who are at the same stage of pregnancy as me, right down to the week.

I am keen on checking out the ‘Labour and Birth’ section lately. I’m concerned about VBAC and the size of my large baby’s head. I had a big headed baby last time and she just didn’t make it out the right hole – they had to get her out by emergency caesarean after I’d tried pushing her out all day. I really don’t want to go through that again…. but I am also struggling with the choice to schedule a caesarean too. It’s nice to have a place to where I can ask other mums from all over Australia about their experiences.

I’m also kind of obsessed with looking at other people’s bumps….

It seems that big bumps are normal after all…. I’m just not sure that my rear end is supposed to be growing quite so fast too. Ahem.

Have you checked out Karimums? And do you like pineapple juice?

    1. Naw, thanks Penny. I’m going to miss it too! This is our last planned pregnancy. I love being pregnant. Well, I love the second trimester :) An excuse for a fat belly, lots of wriggly movements inside and the anticipation of what is to come.

  1. I’m 26 weeks pregnant today, our bumps look the same size which has made me feel awesome because I’m so sick and tired of everyone telling me how HUGE i am. I have an unstable pelvis which is bringing me all kinds of unexpected pain, so you’ll find me alot on the couch, you are not alone! I’ve also thrown up twice this week, twice, which has never happened before….and the nausea is back.

So we are pretty much on the same page you and I xx

    1. Ouch, that sounds painful! Thanks for sharing about your bump :) Sorry to hear about your pelvis though. As if you need something else to worry about during pregnancy! Will it all go back to ‘normal’ after the birth, or will you need some physio. Can’t wait for our babes to arrive in the world!

  2. I was always craving juice when pregnant! Pineapple was especially nice.
btw, love that you have ads on your site, such an important cause.

    1. I know! It started with OJ early on, that’s all I could handle with nausea. Second trimester has been all about the pineapple. Thanks for your feedback on the ads x
