Last weekend I went to Sydney to attend Nuffnang Blogopolis (otherwise known as #NNB2012). If you’re a blogger right now you probably know that this means I went to a blogging conference. I had been telling non-bloggers about this conference for months in the lead up to it and they all gave me the strangest looks when I said where I was going and why. What’s a blog, anyway?
Here are just a few of the things that I felt grateful for while I was at #NNB2012:
- my husband and MIL giving all their love to Pebble while I was away.
THANK YOU! - sharing time and space with people who GET IT
- sharing accommodation with three amazeballs bloggers (Melissa, Lauren and Nat)
- meeting many of my blogging idols, blogging friends and finding many new friends
- my luggage arriving in Sydney with me (not so much on the way home, apparently)
- my credit card (cha-ching!)
- picking the brains of Christie from Childhood 101 and Nicole from Planning with Kids
- cupcakes
- Nat teaching me how to use tilt-shift in Instagram properly (where have I been!?)
- pushing myself completely out of my comfort zone and talk, talk, talking to all the people I had hoped to meet and many more
- more cupcakes
- 7-11 (I forgot to pack my toothbrush!)
- having the guts to take the mic and ask a question of the “Opportunities Gained Through Blogging” panel featuring Christie from Childhood 101, Hayley from Fashion Hayley, Nikki from Styling You and Larry from the AU Review.
- having my vlog cherry popped by Grace.
- squeezing in a super quick, but ultra decadent breakfast with my uni friend Paula in The Rocks (hello Guylian cafe!!).
My one regret? Not taking more photos!
I hope I get the chance to go to another blogging conference again one day, but I have a feeling that I won’t be going to one for quite a while.
Have you stepped out of your comfort zone lately?

I’m glad that I got to meet you, albeit ever so briefly at the very start of the day. I wish there had been more time for socialising… er, I mean “networking”…
It was such a great day! I think its taken me the best part of a week to recover! x

It was a bit of a whirlwind, wasn’t it?! It took me about a week too. I can’t believe this time last week I was just arriving in Sydney and about to meet my blogging roomies.

It was lovely to meet you at the after-party. It was a great event and I agree with you so wonderful to be with people who understand what you do and why.

Hey Kylie. It was great to meet you at Blogopolis. Going to the conference was a big step outside my comfort zone, even if it was only a tiny step away from my home. Before I attended this conference I had no idea of how large, yet close the Australian blogging community is. Can’t wait for the next conference! V.

I saw you on Grace’s blog gorgeous! I so hope to get to a blogging conference one of these days. I’m sure my friends will look at me strangely when I tell them too.

Lucky thing! I would love to attend a blogging conference one day. I’m hoping I can make it to the food blogging conference here in Adelaide this year, if I can wrangle a babysitter as hubby works weekends :(

Haha, I just learned the tilt-shift too! It really makes a huge difference. I’m so annoyed I didn’t buy a ticket to Blogopolis now. Next year for sure!

That blog is so cute!
How is it that I don’t know most of the bloggers in your photo? Fail! Will have to try to get over there soon.
I’m very glad you got such a lot out of the blog confrerence, Vic. I have never been to one for reasons many and varied, but man, they look like so much fun. Like a school excursion for grown-ups! x

Going to the conference was out of my comfort zone. I’m pretty comfortable in front of my laptop, leading a virtual life :) But it was great, of course.
